Introduction
The Feed Composition Table shows the composition of nutrients in the rations over the course of the study. The table is shown here.

Understanding the Table
The items in the table are:
- LQ for liquids
- GR for grains
- FR for forages
- and the overall composition of the diet.
Note that you may not be able to read everything in the first column, labeled “Items.” However, it’s easy to drag that column wider so you’re able to see all of the contents.

Nutrient Components
The items listed in the table include:
- Gross energy
- Digestible energy
- Metabolizable energy
- Gross energy digestibility
- Crude protein
- Metabolizable protein
- RUP (rumen undegradable protein)
- RDP (rumen degradable protein) concentrations in the diet.
Copying and Exporting Data
Like all tables within GPS, if I left-click on the table, you’ll see a red flash. This indicates that the data in the table has been copied to the clipboard. I can then paste it into other applications.
If I right-click, I get a different flash—a green one. In this case, a picture of the table is copied instead.
Interpreting Composition Averages
If multiple liquids are fed, the composition shown will be the weighted average of the concentrations of each of those liquids throughout the feeding program. The same logic applies to grains and forages.
These values represent the average nutrient composition over the entire 122-day simulation.
