the ME supply chart is shown at the bottom center of the scientific screen. The x-axis we see the day of age from 14 to 112 days, and on the y-axis we have mega calories of metabolizable energy consumed in megacals per day.

for liquid feeds, which are shown in the light blue, grain intake which is shown in the the darker green, and the forage intake, in the dark blue, this shows us the source of metabolizable energy being provided to the calf over the course of the simulation. In this scenario most of the energy is coming from milk early in life but by weaning at 70 days of age, all of the energy is then coming from the grain consumption, and increasingly a small amount from forage, as the calf gets older. As we change the feeding program, we will change the consumption of grain and liquid and that will also change the calculations, and this chart. So, for example, if we change the fat from a relatively high value here, in this example, from 15 back to 5%, we should see a change in the energy, particularly later in life, because this grower feed is being fed during the latter portion of the feeding period.

I’ll put that back to 15 and we can see the change taking place here; like other graphs in GPS, if I leftclick on the chart, you’ll see a red flash and we have now copied the data to the clipboard. I can then paste the data into other applications as I need. Also, if I rightclick on the chart we’ll see a green flash, telling us that we have now copied a picture to the clipboard and we can use that for other applications as well. The ME supply chart is a handy chart within the overall platform of GPS to show us where the energy in the diet is coming from. Well, that’s it for this video thanks for watching.
